Positive Promotions was relying solely on a printed catalog to meet their existing customer's needs. In order to meet their customers' needs and reach new markets, Positive Promotions realized they must extend their catalog offering online. The back office Web site architecture needed to interface with an existing RS/6000 system. It also had to allow for everyday site updates such as product pricing modifications.
Outlook started the project with an Analysis and Design to map out the business and technical processes. From there, Outlook installed its bundled E-commerce package, CMS/Merchant offering a catalog, product entry/edit screens, transaction engine, and secure checkout processes. Upon installation of CMS/Merchant, Outlook divided the site into six marketplaces to serve Positive's well-defined markets. In order to update site content such as product details and pricing, Outlook built a web-based back end where non-technical users are able to modify all site content. Furthermore, Outlook was selected to host the Web site for the following three years. All this translates into the seamless move of extending a brick and mortar business' product offering onto the Web.
